What is Haylo Baby?
Haylo Baby is a wearable baby head protector. A quilted organic-cotton halo sits behind and beside the head, with two small shoulder wings and a 3-point cotton harness that helps keep it centered. It is designed to soften everyday bumps while babies learn to sit, crawl, pull up and walk.
What age is a baby head protector for?
Haylo Baby is designed for babies around 6 to 18 months: from sitting and crawling through pulling to stand and taking first steps.
How is Haylo Baby different from a head protector backpack?
Most head protector backpacks are a round pillow built for straight-back falls. Wobbly walkers also tip sideways and twist, so the Haylo Baby halo cushions the back and both sides of the head, adds shoulder wings, and uses non-stretch webbing at the shoulders and waist so it stays centered instead of sliding off to one side.
Does a baby head protector prevent head injuries?
No. Haylo Baby is designed to soften bumps and tumbles on hard floors during supervised play. It does not prevent injury, it is not a helmet and it is not a medical device. Close supervision and baby-proofing, such as stair gates and anchored furniture, matter most.
Can my baby nap or sleep in it?
No. Haylo Baby is for supervised, awake play only. Take it off before naps and sleep, and never leave your baby unattended while wearing it.
Is it a helmet?
No. It is a soft cushion worn like a small backpack. Nothing sits on top of the head, nothing is in front of the face and no strap goes near the neck.
Will it get in the way of crawling or walking?
It is lightweight and nothing touches the head at rest, so babies can sit, crawl and cruise as usual. Like any new layer, some babies need a few short tries to get used to it.
What is it made of?
Organic cotton canvas on the outside, natural wool filling, soft cotton jersey at the head and herringbone cotton webbing for the harness. No foam and no polyester stuffing.
Has it been safety tested?
Haylo Baby will be independently lab-tested to US children’s product standards before it ships. It has no snaps, buttons or squeakers, and nothing sits near the neck or in front of the face.
How do I wash it?
The cover is machine washable: wash it cold on a gentle cycle, then air dry. Spot clean the inner cushion.
How much does it cost and when does it ship?
Pre-orders are open at the $79 founder price (regular price $99). Your card is charged at checkout and your cushion is expected to ship in 16–18 weeks. That is an estimate: if it changes, we email you and you can cancel for a full refund. We email you as your order moves and again when it ships.
Do you ship outside the US?
Haylo Baby is launching in the US first.
